NOTICE OF ELECTIONS OF MUNICIPAL OFFICERS
Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 an election for the purpose of electing a Mayor, City Council Members from Ward 1, Ward 2, Ward 3, Ward 4, Ward 5, Ward 6, Ward 7 and Tallassee City Board of Education Members from Ward 1, Ward 2, Ward 3, Ward 4, Ward 5, Ward 6 and Ward 7 for the City of Tallassee, Alabama, will be held, and that all registered and qualified electors of the state, who reside within the corporate limits of Tallassee, Alabama and have resided therein 30 days or more immediately preceding the date of the election, and who are qualified to vote in the county precinct which embraces and covers that part of the corporate limits of the City in which the elector resides, will be authorized to participate in the election.
The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Pursuant to Section 11-46-24, Code of Alabama 1975 the following locations have been designated as voting places:
** Qualified electors residing in Wards 1, 2, 4, and 6 within Elmore County shall vote at Tallaweka Baptist Church, located at 1419 Gilmer Avenue.
** Qualified electors residing in Ward 3 within Elmore County shall vote at the Community Center Building of God’s Congregation Holiness Church, located at 508 Jordan Avenue.
** Qualified electors residing in Wards 5, 6, and 7 within Tallapoosa County shall vote at the Tallassee Community Library, located at 99 Freeman Avenue.
If necessary, a run-off election will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020.
Any qualified elector who will have resided within the municipality, or if the municipality is districted, within the district from which he or she seeks election, for a period of at least 90 days on election day may qualify to run for office by filing the appropriate forms and paying any appropriate fees, as otherwise provided by law.
Candidates interested in any of the above listed offices can qualify no earlier than Tuesday, July 7, 2020 and no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2020.
