  MINUTES OF A REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING

OF THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE

CITY OF TALLASSEE, ALABAMA

MARCH 28, 2023

 

 

 

 

The Mayor and the City Council of the City of Tallassee, Alabama convened in regular session on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at the Tallassee Municipal Complex. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hill and the following were recorded as present:

John Smith was present as city attorney and Whitney Pitchford as secretary for the meeting.

 

Approval of minutes: On motion of Councilmember Hughey and a second by Councilmember Brown, all councilmembers present voted to approve the minutes of the March 14, 2023 work session. On motion of Councilmember Godwin and a second by Councilmember Taunton, all councilmembers present voted to approve the minutes of the March 14, 2023 regular city council meeting.

Item 1. Removed from agenda.

Mayor’s Reports:

  1. Change order #1 WWTP was discussed. Councilmember Taunton made a motion to approve change order #1 for the WWTP, seconded by Councilmember Brown. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.
  2. Approval of agreement for construction engineering services for the Streetscape Improvement Project. Councilmember Carr made a motion to approve the agreement for construction engineering services for the Streetscape Improvement Project, seconded by Councilmember Hughey. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.
  3. Amendment #2 for the Downtown Streetscape Improvements was discussed. Councilmember Brown made a motion to approve amendment #2 for the Downtown Streetscape Improvements, seconded by Councilmember Godwin. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.
  4. Thanks to the First Responders , AL Power and our City workers for all of their hard work this week!
  5. Police Dept gave an update on the officer involved in the wreck last weekend. He is having surgery but will be okay.
  6. Randy Spence sent a project progress report updating the bond issue gas replacement.
  7. First Call Coffee-A networking event. March 30 from 8-9:30AM at Restoration 49.
  8. AMIC Voting Delegate was discussed. Councilmember Brown is discussing with his Admin.
  9. Nominations for ALDOR County Boards of Equalization.
  10. ALDOT Region Meetings for East Central Region: March 30, 2023, June 29, 2023, September 28, 2023, and December 28, 2023

Council Reports

Ward 3. Mentioned trash in Jordanville-Trey is discussing w/ them and will tell them that they need a dumpster.

Ward 6: We need to get a Finance Meeting together to discuss business license. Possibly a subcommittee? Get a date from Mayor about meeting. Tom Crane at Tallassee Rehab is celebrating their 25th Anniversary Monday April 3rd from 5-7PM. Everyone is invited.

There being no further business before the council, and upon motion of Councilmember Taunton and a second by Councilmember Carr, all councilmembers present voted to adjourn the meeting at 6:12 p.m.
