  MINUTES OF A REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING

OF THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE

CITY OF TALLASSEE, ALABAMA

JUNE 13, 2023

 

 

 

 

The Mayor and the City Council of the City of Tallassee, Alabama convened in regular session on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at the Tallassee Municipal Complex. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hill and the following were recorded as present:

Fred Randall Hughey

 

John Smith was present as city attorney and Whitney Pitchford as secretary for the meeting.

 

Approval of minutes: On motion of Councilmember Hughey and a second by Councilmember Hall, all councilmembers present voted to approve the minutes of the May 23, 2023 work session. On motion of Councilmember Hall and a second by Councilmember Carr, all councilmembers present voted to approve the minutes of the May 23, 2023 regular city council meeting.

Item 1. Eric Jones gave an update on the CDBG demolition project. He and Mayor Hill talked with Leslie York last week. We originally had 27 houses on the list. Bonnie Caldwell gave up a lot of houses but he has since passed away and that changed things with the grant. We are now moving forward with 6 houses this round. If you know of anyone willing to sign their house over to be torn down, please let Eric know.

Item 2: The City was recognized as Tree City USA for 30 years and awarded a couple of signs.

Mayor’s Reports:

  • Reminder that the City will be closed Monday for Juneteenth.
  • We will also be closed July 3rd and 4th.
  • There is no second meeting in June.
  • Strategic Planning meeting-Council, please send the Mayor a few days that you could meet.

Council Reports

No reports.

There being no further business before the council, and upon motion of Councilmember Carr and a second by Councilmember Hall, all councilmembers present voted to adjourn the meeting at 6:11 p.m.
