MINUTES OF A REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
OF THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TALLASSEE, ALABAMA
FEBRUARY 11, 2025
The Mayor and the City Council of the City of Tallassee, Alabama convened in regular session on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the Tallassee Municipal Complex. The meeting was called to order by Mayor and the following were recorded as present:

John Smith was present as city attorney and as secretary for the meeting.
Approval of minutes: On motion of Councilmember Godwin and a second by Councilmember Taunton, all councilmembers present voted to approve the minutes of the January 28, 2025 work session. On motion of Councilmember Godwin and a second by Councilmember Taunton, all councilmembers present voted to approve the minutes of the January 28, 2025 regular city council meeting.
Mayor Hill then called the council’s attention to the agenda and the following occurred.
Item 1. After receiving input form the council, Mayor Hill stated that she would address concerns about the proposed new Ward 3 and 4 dividing lines and issues with splitting Noble Road between two wards with representatives of CARPDC.
Item 2. Following discussion, and upon motion of Councilmember Hall and a second by Councilmember Hughey, all councilmembers present voted to maintain seven wards for the upcoming quadrennium.
Item 3. Following discussion, and upon motion of Councilmember Godwin and a second by Councilmember Carr, all councilmembers present voted to maintain the salaries set by Tallassee Ordinance 2012-506 for the upcoming quadrennium.
Item 4. SCF was the only bidder for the construction of the new city shop. Upon motion of Councilmember Taunton and a second by Councilmember Hughey, all councilmembers present voted to accept SCF’s bid.
Item 5. An ordinance requiring inspection and fees for certain rental properties within the city was introduced. A public hearing on the ordinance has been set for 5:00 p.m. on February 25, 2025.
Item 6. City employee Stephanie Hornsby wishes to donate certain of her accrued sick time to city employee Heather Garner. Upon motion of Councilmember Hall and a second by Councilmember Taunton, all councilmembers present voted to approve the donation and transfer of the sick time as had been requested.
Item 7. Mayor Hill indicated the issues to be discussed about the new recreation center had been addressed during the work session immediately preceding the council meeting.
Item 8. Mayor Hill reported that the issues she wished to discuss with the council had been covered during the work session immediately preceding the council meeting.
Item 9. Councilmember Carr offered the only council report. He asked Tallassee Police Chief Buce, who was present, to have his officers further address complaints of loud music in Jordanville. Chief Buce stated that would be done.
There being no further business before the council, and upon a motion by Councilmember Carr and a second by Councilmember Taunton, will all councilmembers voting in favor, the council meeting was adjourned at 6:06 PM.
