MINUTES OF A REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
OF THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TALLASSEE, ALABAMA
FEBRUARY 25, 2025
The Mayor and the City Council of the City of Tallassee, Alabama convened in regular session on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the Tallassee Municipal Complex. The meeting was called to order by Mayor and the following were recorded as present:

Damian Carr
Bill Hall
Bill Godwin
Terrel Brown
Fred Randall Hughey
John Smith was present as city attorney and Whitney Pitchford as secretary for the meeting.
Approval of minutes: On motion of Councilmember Hughey and a second by Councilmember Carr, all councilmembers present voted to approve the minutes of the February 11, 2025 work session. On motion of Councilmember Hughey and a second by Councilmember Carr, all councilmembers present voted to approve the minutes of the February 11, 2025 regular city council meeting.
Mayor Hill then called the council’s attention to the agenda and the following occurred.
Item 1. Mayor Hill and Council members discussed the Samson Strong 5K event proposal. Councilmember Carr made a motion to approve the event, seconded by Councilmember Brown. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.
Item 2. Following discussion at the Public Hearing and Work Session, and upon motion of Councilmember Brown and a second by Councilmember Carr, all councilmembers present voted to approve the rental ordinance. Ordinance 2025-695 was adopted.
Item 3. Mayor Hill and Council members discussed an election agreement with Elmore County. Councilmember Hughey made a motion to approve the election agreement, seconded by Councilmember Godwin. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.
Item 4. Future council meeting dates were discussed. Mayor Hill suggested changing the meeting dates to the second and fourth Monday of each month. Council members were fine with this suggestion. John Smith will have an Ordinance ready to be introduced at the March 11th meeting. Councilmember Taunton made a motion to cancel the March 25th meeting due to that being the week of Spring Break and several people being out of town, seconded by Councilmember Hall. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.
Mayor’s Reports:
*We received Tree City again for the 32nd year.
There were no Council reports.
There being no further business before the council, and upon a motion by Councilmember Hughey and a second by Councilmember Taunton, will all councilmembers voting in favor, the council meeting was adjourned at 6:05 PM.
