MINUTES OF A REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING

OF THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE

CITY OF TALLASSEE, ALABAMA

APRIL 28, 2025

The Mayor and the City Council of the City of Tallassee, Alabama convened in regular session on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the Tallassee Municipal Complex. The meeting was called to order by Mayor and the following were recorded as present:

Lane Knight was present as city attorney and Whitney Pitchford as secretary for the meeting.

Approval of minutes: On motion of Councilmember Taunton and a second by Councilmember Hall, all councilmembers present voted to approve the minutes of the April 14, 2025 work session. On motion of Councilmember Hughey and a second by Councilmember Hall, all councilmembers present voted to approve the minutes of the April 14, 2025 regular city council meeting.

Mayor Hill then called the council’s attention to the agenda and the following occurred.

Item 1. Mayor Hill and Council discussed the following bids for surplus vehicles.

2002 FORD EXPLORER *0344. Jason Gaines had the highest bid of $250.00. Councilmember Hughey made a motion to accept the bid from Jason Gaines, seconded by Councilmember Godwin. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.

2011 FORD CROWN VIC *5768. Chadwick Randall Robbins had the highest bid of $401.25. Councilmember Hughey made a motion to accept the bid from Chadwick Randall Robbins, seconded by Councilmember Carr. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.

2007 FORD CROWN VIC *2660. Trenton Griffith had the highest bid of $350. Councilmember Hughey made a motion to accept the bid from Trenton Griffith, seconded by Councilmember Hall. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.    

2011 FORD CROWN VIC *5770. Hunter Saint had the highest bid of $601. Councilmember Hughey made a motion to accept the bid from Hunter Saint, seconded by Councilmember Carr. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.

2003 CHEVY SILVERADO *9846. Ruston Lee Jacksland had the highest bid of $1650. Councilmember Hughey made a motion to accept the bid from Ruston Lee Jacksland, seconded by Councilmember Taunton. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.

2011 FORD ESCAPE *4027. Chadwick Randall Robbins had the highest bid of $502.01. Councilmember Hughey made a motion to accept the bid, seconded by Councilmember Hall. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.    

Item 2. The May 26th council meeting was discussed. Councilmember Godwin made a motion to cancel the May 26th council meeting due to Memorial Day, seconded by Councilmember Hall. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.

Mayor’s Reports:  

*The City received the silver award from AMIC. Thanks to Whitney and the Police Department for their part in this.

*Time Donations

Tyler Darr: Councilmember Godwin made a motion to approve the time donation for Tyler Daar, seconded by Councilmember Hall. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.

Kali Stewart: Councilmember Carr made a motion to approve the time donation for Kali Stewart, seconded by Councilmember Taunton. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.

*Congrats to the Tallassee Seniors! Especially CiCi Hill and Konner Taunton!

Council Reports:

Ward 2: Great job to the investigators in the horrible incident this past weekend.

Ward 3: Thanks to the Police Department!

There being no further business before the council, and upon a motion by Councilmember Taunton and a second by Councilmember Hall, will all councilmembers voting in favor, the council meeting was adjourned at 6:04 PM.
