MINUTES OF A REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING

OF THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE

CITY OF TALLASSEE, ALABAMA

JUNE 25, 2024

 

 

 

 

The Mayor and the City Council of the City of Tallassee, Alabama convened in regular session on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the Tallassee Municipal Complex. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hill and the following were recorded as present:

John Smith was present as city attorney and Whitney Pitchford as secretary for the meeting.

 

Approval of minutes: On motion of Councilmember Hughey and a second by Councilmember Brown, all councilmembers present voted to approve the minutes of the June 11, 2024 work session. On motion of Councilmember Hughey and a second by Councilmember Brown, all councilmembers present voted to approve the minutes of the June 11, 2024 regular city council meeting.

Item 1. Mayor Hill and Councilmembers discussed the options with Musco lighting. Councilmember Hall made a motion to approve adding the lighting for three fields to the 24/25 budget, seconded by Councilmember Carr. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.

Item 2: Removed from agenda.

Item 3: Eric Jones is working on a set of bid specs for the City Shop to be located on the airport property.

Item 4: Eric Jones gave an update on the CDBG demolition grant. Bid package will be in the July 3rd paper and we will open bids July 19th.

Mayor’s Reports:

*Jeff Harrison gave an update on projects.

*Happy 4th! The City will be closed July 4th and 5th.

*Councilmember Godwin made a motion to suspend the rules, seconded by Councilmember Taunton. Upon a roll call vote, the motion passed unanimously. Councilmember Hall made a motion to move $2000 from 01-501-2014 to 01-514-5225, seconded by Councilmember Godwin. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously. Councilmember Godwin made a motion to donate $1000 to the 10U boys going to the World Series from 01-514-5225, seconded by Councilmember Brown. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously. Councilmember Brown made a motion to donate $1000 from 01-514-5225 to the 12U boys going to the World Series, seconded by Councilmember Hall. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.

Ward 3: Thanks to the youth and Council for helping the 8U boys get to Oxford.

There being no further business before the council, and upon motion of Councilmember Hall and a second by Councilmember Taunton, all councilmembers present voted to adjourn the meeting at 6:16 p.m.
