MINUTES OF A REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
OF THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TALLASSEE, ALABAMA
JULY 26, 2022
The Mayor and the City Council of the City of Tallassee, Alabama convened in regular session on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. at the Tallassee Municipal Complex. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hill and the following were recorded as present:

John Smith was present as city attorney and Whitney Pitchford as secretary for the meeting.
Approval of minutes: On motion of Councilmember Taunton and a second by Councilmember Godwin, all councilmembers present voted to approve the minutes of the July 12, 2022 work session. On motion of Councilmember Hall and a second by Councilmember Brown, all councilmembers present voted to approve the minutes of the July 12, 2022 regular city council meeting.
Item 1. Councilmember Carr made a motion to appoint Linda Mosher as the Ward 2 council member, seconded by Councilmember Taunton. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously. Judge Benson administered the Oath of Office to Councilmember Mosher.
Item 2. Mayor Hill discussed the Tallassee Housing Authority during the work session. We need two recommendations for commissioners. Councilmember Carr is taking the lead. This will be on the next agenda.
Item 3. Councilmember Brown made a motion to appoint Aubrey Cooper Hopson as the Ward 2 Parks and Rec board representative, seconded by Councilmember Hughey. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.
Mayor’s Reports:
- Councilmember Godwin made a motion to approve Mayor Hill as a RSA contributing member, seconded by Councilmember Taunton. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.
- At the August 9th meeting we will be taking a new group picture.
- Reminder that all leaves must be bagged in order to be picked up by the limb truck.
- We have a limb truck down, please be patient.
- Randy Spence emailed a CDG report. Also working on an 8.9 million dollar grant to assist with a gas projects with a 0% match.
- WWTP-Carmen Chosie and Jeff Harrison with CDG are working on that.
- Hotel-Public hearing on August 9, 2022 to amend CDBG funds to include the Hotel—not whether or not the Hotel is coming down.
Council Reports
Ward 1-Hasn’t been able to make it to the last two IDB meeting due to conflicts. Councilmember Taunton asked Councilmember Mosher if she would be willing to serve in his place on the IDB. Councilmember Mosher agreed. Councilmember Godwin made a motion to approve Councilmember Mosher to fill Councilmember Taunton’s position on the IDB Board, seconded by Councilmember Hall. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.
Ward 6- Councilmember Godwin asked Councilmember Hall and Mayor Hill to look at their calendars and let him know when they could meet for the Finance Committee.
Ward 7- Councilmember Mosher will need to resign from the TRA. John Smith asked that Councilmember Mosher write a letter resigning from the TRA and give it to the Mayor.
There being no further business before the council, and upon motion of Councilmember Carr and a second by Councilmember Hall, all councilmembers present voted to adjourn the meeting at 6:14 p.m.
