MINUTES OF A WORK SESSION
OF THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TALLASSEE, ALABAMA
JANUARY 11, 2022
The City Council of the City of Tallassee, Alabama convened in a work session on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. at the Tallassee Municipal Complex. The meeting was called to order and the following were recorded as present:
Mayor John Hammock
Council Members Jeremy Taunton
Sarah Hill
Damian Carr
Bill Hall
Terrel Brown
Bill Godwin
Fred Randall Hughey
John Smith was present as city attorney and Whitney Pitchford as secretary for the work session.
The City Council of the City of Tallassee met in the city council chambers in a work session beginning at 5 p.m. on January 11, 2022. The meeting was called to order at 5 p.m. by Mayor Hammock.
The discussion of the December 14, 2021 city council meeting and work session minutes. There were no corrections.
Next, the agenda for the January 11, 2022 city council meeting was discussed. Certain items were discussed in detail.
Mayor’s Reports:
- Former Mayor Bobby Payne passed away. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 12, 2022 from 12-1PM. Flags will be flown at half-staff for former Mayor Bobby Payne on January 12, 2022.
- City Hall closed January 17th for Martin Luther King Day.
- Senior Center took seniors to Restoration 49 and they had a great time.
- Grant opportunities for possible bus. Councilmember Godwin suggested that Mayor Hammock look into this.
- Wants to repost job for building inspector.
Councilmember Hill made a motion to go into executive session seconded by Councilmember Hall, and a vote in favor by all. Councilmember Hill made a motion to exit executive session seconded by Councilmember Taunton, and a vote in favor by all.
On motion of Councilmember Hill and second of Councilmember Carr, and a vote in favor by all other councilmembers, the meeting was adjourned at 5:51 p.m.
