MINUTES OF A REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
OF THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TALLASSEE, ALABAMA
AUGUST 11, 2025
The Mayor and the City Council of the City of Tallassee, Alabama convened in regular session on Monday, August 11, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the Tallassee Municipal Complex. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hill and the following were recorded as present:

Fred Randall Hughey
John Smith was present as city attorney and Whitney Pitchford as secretary for the meeting.
Approval of minutes: On motion of Councilmember Hughey and a second by Councilmember Brown, all councilmembers present voted to approve the minutes of the July 28, 2025 work session. On motion of Councilmember Brown and a second by Councilmember Taunton, all councilmembers present voted to approve the minutes of the July 28, 2025 regular city council meeting.
Mayor Hill then called the council’s attention to the agenda and the following occurred.
Item 1. A resolution recognizing the 10U world champions was introduced. Mayor Hill presented a plaque to the 10U team and congratulated them. Councilmember Hall made a motion to approve the resolution, seconded by Councilmember Carr. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously. Resolution 2025-263 was adopted.
Item 2. A resolution recognizing the 10U world champions was introduced. Mayor Hill presented a plaque to the 10U team and congratulated them. Councilmember Hall made a motion to approve the resolution, seconded by Councilmember Carr. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously. Resolution 2025-263 was adopted.
Item 3. A resolution recognizing the 12U world champions was introduced. Mayor Hill presented a plaque to the 12U team and congratulated them. Councilmember Taunton made a motion to approve the resolution, seconded by Councilmember Brown. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously. Resolution 2025-262 was adopted.
Item 4. Jeff Harrison gave an update on the gas grant.
Item 5. Jeff Harrison gave an update on all projects, handout included.
Mayor’s Reports:
*Proclamation for Ms. Mary Ella Crenshaw’s 109th birthday.
*Certificate of recognition for Jahazel Hooks-50 years of serving senior citizens.
*Discuss August 25th council meeting. Councilmember Carr made a motion to cancel the meeting, seconded by Councilmember Hall. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.
*The water/utility crew worked all weekend finding a leak and we were able to get the residents water back on. It was a leak in the Rifle Range Road area due to fire hydrant testing.
Council Reports:
Ward 3: Congrats to Ms. Crenshaw & Mrs. Hooks. August 14th CARPDC meeting at 5:30.
Ward 4: Congrats to the 10U & 12U! Congrats to Ms. Crenshaw and Mrs. Hooks.
Ward 5: Echoing what Mr. Bill said. Ms. Crenshaw is a pillar in the community.
Ward 6: Congrats to Ms. Crenshaw and Mrs. Hooks.
Ward 7: Congrats to Ms. Crenshaw and Mrs. Hooks.
There being no further business before the council, and upon a motion by Councilmember Hall and a second by Councilmember Godwin, will all councilmembers voting in favor, the council meeting was adjourned at 6:37 PM.
