MINUTES OF A REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING
OF THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TALLASSEE, ALABAMA
SEPTEMBER 10, 2024
The Mayor and the City Council of the City of Tallassee, Alabama convened in regular session on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the Tallassee Municipal Complex. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Hill and the following were recorded as present:

Fred Randall Hughey
John Smith was present as city attorney and Whitney Pitchford as secretary for the meeting.
Approval of minutes: On motion of Councilmember Hughey and a second by Councilmember Brown, all councilmembers present voted to approve the minutes of the August 13, 2024 regular city council meeting.
Item 1. Cpl. Braxton Bryant was given a life saving award. Dispatcher Cassie Butler was given the Pamela Burton distinguished service award.
Item 2: A Resolution concerning a public nuisance at 507 First Avenue was discussed. Councilmember Hall made a motion to approve the Resolution for up to 4 cuts, seconded by Councilmember Brown. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously. Resolution 2024-244 was adopted.
Item 3: The 24/25 Budget and calendar were introduced and discussed in the Finance Meeting at 5PM. There were no questions or comments.
Item 4: Mayor Hill will be going to a Segas conference next week. She will talk with Segas regarding purchasing more gas to save additional money.
Mayor’s Reports:
*The November 26th council meeting was discussed. Councilmember Hall made a motion to cancel the November 26th meeting, seconded by Councilmember Hughey. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously. The December 24th council meeting was discussed. Councilmember Hall made a motion to cancel the December 24th meeting, seconded by Councilmember Godwin. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously.
Council Reports
Ward 2: Went to the Library Board meeting, they have a great group that is working hard.
Ward 3: Councilmember Carr made a motion to appoint Kim Jordan to the TRA, seconded by Councilmember Hughey. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously. Councilmember Carr made a motion to appoint Nancy Wiginton to the TRA, seconded by Councilmember Brown. Upon a vote, the motion passed unanimously. Thanks to all city employees, you are doing a great job.
Ward 6: Thank you, Mayor, Whitney, Kayla, and Bill Hall, for all of your work on the budget.
There being no further business before the council, and upon motion of Councilmember Hall and a second by Councilmember Godwin, all councilmembers present voted to adjourn the meeting at 6:09 p.m.
